RIDER ED
First, thank you for all who came to the First Aid/CPR class. We now have 26 more members who are qualified to assist in an emergency. Rex and Tina did a fabulous job. We are thankful to them for their time and expertise. We*ll let you know when the course is offered again.
And speaking of first aid* Let*s try to avoid the need for first aid in this hot weather by staying hydrated. In extreme heat like we have been experiencing lately, it is easy to become dehydrated. By the time you are feeling thirsty, you are already dehydrated. So here are some tips to keep you healthy. Your body is over 60% water. So it needs to be replenished with water regularly. And the hotter the temperature, the more often the replacement of water should occur. Besides feeling thirsty, other early signs of dehydration include a dry mouth and a decrease in energy. Another way to check that you are hydrated is that your urine should be light colored, and the need to urinate fairly often. The darker your urine, the more likely you are dehydrated. And the cure for this is as simple as a glass of water! Continual drinking of water, rather than gulping, is a better plan, but drinking water is a must. So, bring the water bottle on the ride, and keep it filled and drink often. Ride Safe, Butch and Kathy |
